Hudson Family Fund makes landmark gift to the Living Seawall
The Hudson Family Fund at the Community Foundation of Broward has made a transformative $100,000 donation to LivingSeawall.org on behalf of Steve & Jeannie Hudson, Scott & Holly Bodenweber, and their families. This is the largest individual contribution to the Living Seawall to date and brings the project to 44% of its nearly $2 million fundraising goal.
The Living Seawall at the Church by the Sea is a first-of-its-kind project reimagining traditional seawalls as vertical reefs that improve water quality, support marine life, and promote coastal resilience in the Fort Lauderdale canal system.
The Hudson Family Fund supports programs that help people in Broward County get and stay healthy. Past beneficiaries include Broward Health, Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, JDRF, the American Heart Association, Boys and Girls Clubs of Broward, Jack and Jill Children’s Center, Take Stock in Children, Heart Gallery of Broward County, Habitat for Humanity, YMCA, the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, and many others.
“On behalf of the Hudson and Bodenweber families, we are proud to support the Living Seawall and excited to see this visionary project come to life,” said Steven W. Hudson, former Board Chairman of the Community Foundation of Broward. “Our families believe deeply in protecting and restoring our coastal environment for future generations.”
Harry Rozelle, Committee Chair of the Living Seawall, added:
“On behalf of the Church by the Sea and the entire Living Seawall team, I want to express our heartfelt thanks. This extraordinary pledge not only provides critical support, but also brings tremendous credibility and momentum. The Hudson and Bodenweber families’ leadership will undoubtedly inspire others to give. This project stands at the intersection of science, stewardship, and faith—and with their help, we’re building something beautiful and enduring.”
